Overview
 
The advanced professional TSCM specific operator software application is coded to an exacting set of specifications, rigorously documented in accordance with government software writing standards with extensive support from the Canadian government's professional TSCM and Radio Spectrum Monitoring community. Such measures help to ensure the Palantir FAR is capable of detecting all espionage threat signals encountered in government and industry. No other Canadian receiver has undergone the design benefit of such exacting processes.  
 
Our professional TSCM specific operator software application has been integrated with the high speed digital pre-processing hardware subsystem designed into the Palantir FAR analogue to digital converter.
 
The hardware / firmware pre-processing allows many TSCM signal specific parameters to be programmed into much faster on-board hardware via an industry standard network-enabled upgradable firmware path.
  
Palantir FAR uses a different approach to the very slow and feature deficient traditional mix of off the shelf receivers with generic A/D and DSP based software application integrations. Our engineers have developed a patented approach which is vastly more efficient and faster when searching for specific threat signal parameters than is possible using any software application running on a general purpose PC platform.  Our patented approach was a very important step in ensuring the highest level of functionality, capability and stability.
 
The Palantir FAR conforms to industry standard API calls and DSP coding libraries to ensure its lifecycle is not impacted by proprietary software routines and undocumented coding features thus ensuring the TSCM receiver's stability throughout the underlying Microsoft system life-cycle.
 
Compatibility
 
Our TSCM specific software application maintains forward compatibility with future firmware and feature upgrades. Our industry leading design process avoids the general purpose receiver application compatibility issues that frustrated many of our government clientele and is so common with TSCM industry applications today. TSCM applications operating only in software and integrated with commercial receivers using non-industry standard Application Programming Interfaces have been proven to be slow, difficult to integrate and extremely costly to update and maintain and are prone to failure when managed outside the framework of a computing platform operating system patch management cycle. Too many USB connected non standard TSCM applications running on Windows have suddenly ceased operating due to a simple conflicting operating system patch. Palantir FAR updates will be rigorously tested within an operating system industry standard patch management cycle ensuring continued peak performance and operation alleviating any operator concerns.
 
Data Transfer
 
One of the most important factors in matching our specific software to the Palantir FAR receiver is that we can take advantage of the internal receiver capability for data analysis. An application that is not receiver specific or designed for individual receiver capability will often require all signal analysis and processing to be performed within the software application resident on a general purpose computing platform. What this means is as the spectrum is scanned and digital data is passed to the software application for processing the spectrum scanning stops until the transfer process is completed before it can resume again. This process slows receiver performance allowing spectrum activity to be missed.
 
The Palantir FAR professional TSCM specific operator software application is not affected by such issues. Much of the processing and analysis is actually performed within the receiver for optimal speed and performance. The highly advanced functionality of our software application is further enhanced by Gigabit-Ethernet connectivity. This allows for high speed data transfer with no degraded processing performance, overloading or lost data as can be seen with USB connectivity, ensuring the receiver performs at its maximum capability and does not miss any activity within the RF spectrum.

The advanced "in building" direction finding capability is not simply a walk around RF probe type feature as seen in many common RF detectors but utilizes geo location technology and can instantly and accurately, identify and locate the source of any signal in the RF spectrum within the target environment from a stationary location. This feature takes advanced RF detection and location capability to an entirely new level and will be available for the first time in any TSCM receiver or application and is just one of the advanced features that sets it apart from other equipment resources or detection solutions.

It is important to note that a software application can only process and analyze the spectrum data that is provided by the receiver hardware. Results and analysis from the data provided by limited performance receiver hardware will lack the detail and accuracy of more professional equipment and the operator may never know just what or how much activity was actually missed or data lost through poor performance, limited connectivity and degraded processing functionality.
